LEAP OF KINDNESS DAY - FEB. 29, 2024 
What will you do with your extra day? 
Make the most of it by doing some good in our community! 

We will again be participating in Leap Of Kindness Day, created by the Saratoga Chamber of Commerce in 2016. Every Leap year, on Feb. 29, Chambers of Commerce and other organizations from across the Nation partner together to do good in their communities for Leap Of Kindness Day.  All day on Feb. 29, we encourage our community to do something good! Here are the items that we will be doing; please join us or do something on your own. Whatever you do, let us know about it! 

Leap years only come around every 4 years....Make the most of our extra day on Feb. 29! 

CUSHING CHAMBER LEAP OF KINDNESS DAY EVENT: 

FILL THE FOOD BOX PANTRIES IN CUSHING, OK:  We are asking for canned goods; bread; peanut butter; any items for the Food Box Pantries around our community.  We want to FILL THEM TO THE BRIM with food and hygiene products, household cleaning products, and anything needed.  Either bring individual hygiene items or make hygiene bags filled with items for women, men, and children/Teens.  Household cleaning items are also needed.  

Drop off your donations for the food box pantries to the Cushing Chamber office by Wednesday, Feb. 28; we will fill the food boxes on Feb. 29! There are 3 - 4 food box pantries that need to be filled.  

Does your Non-Profit Organization; Civic Organization; or Business want to join in on filling the Food Box Pantries in Cushing?  Give us a call at 918-225-2400 and we will add you!  

What will you/your organization have to do to participate?  Ask staff, customers, and others to donate to the food boxes; gather food items and hygiene items to be placed in the boxes and either drop off the items to the Cushing Chamber office or join us on Feb. 29 and help us fill the boxes.  

About Leap of Kindness Day, invented by the Saratoga County Chamber of Commerce in 
Saratoga, New York: 

"Leap of Kindness Day was invented by the Saratoga County Chamber of Commerce in 2016. The idea was to inspire our members and community to use their extra day that Leap Year to do something kind for someone else, and hundreds of local organizations helped thousands of local people on February 29, 2016.

In 2020, Leap of Kindness Day was even bigger and better as more than 200 chambers in the US, Canada, and Ireland joined us and organized their own celebrations. In Saratoga, people donated their time, talent, and treasure to help so many people, local charities, and nonprofit organizations, and to thank first responders, teachers, school bus drivers, Veterans, etc.

In 2024, we will once again celebrate Leap of Kindness Day, on Thursday, February 29, 2024, and everyone is invited to join us!"

IDEAS FOR #LEAP OF KINDNESS DAY: 
Random or known, all Leaps of Kindness are the basis of using your extra day that we have been given for good!  

✔️Visit a Senior Living Facility in Cushing, OK and bring goodies for the residents.  Have a conversation with a resident.  

✔️Pay for the person in the drive-thru line behind you.  

✔️Pay for another table's meals at a local Restaurant. 

✔️Donate to a local Non-Profit Organization

✔️Help your Neighbor get something done:  Trim their tree; take out their trash; haul off something that they need gone; so many ways to help your neighbors! 

✔️Contact your favorite Non-Profit and see what their needs are, then fill one or more of their needs.  

✔️So many ideas, and any are great!  See the below image for even more ideas!  Don't forget to let us know about what you are doing so we can help spread the word and get others to get involved, too!

Cushing Citizen/Drumright Chamber of Commerce Project: 

💜Cushing Citizen is partnering with the Drumright Chamber of Commerce for Leap Of Kindness Day by being a drop-off location for new socks, gently used shoes, and other hygiene products until Wednesday, Feb. 28, to be distributed on Feb. 29.  Cushing Citizen is located at 120 E. Broadway Street in the Broadway District in Cushing, OK.
